One Drive Settings Configuration Guide
This article will explain how I setup a basic policy to setup OneDrive automatically on Windows devices.
Why am I doing this?
This policy will setup OneDrive so the user doesn’t have to interact with the OneDrive User Interface.
The vanilla install contains OneDrive but it’s not signed-in.
This policy will:
- Setup the user.
- Setup the known Windows folders to backup to OneDrive (Desktop, Documents, Pictures).
- Disable the tutorial popups.

๐งช Test Groups: Creating a test group is the first step when creating a new Intune policy. This allows you to safely test the policy on a small group of users before deploying to your entire organization, minimizing potential disruption and ensuring the policy works as expected.
In the Intune Admin panel, go to Windows -> Configuration -> Create -> New Policy -> Windows 10+ && Settings catalog -> Add settings From there you can scroll down to OneDrive or do a search for each of the following policies:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Disable animation that appears during OneDrive Setup (User) | Enabled |
| Disable the tutorial that appears at the end of OneDrive Setup (User) | Enabled |
| Prompt users to move Windows known folders to OneDrive | Enabled |
| Tenant ID: (Device) | [Tenant ID] |
| Require users to confirm large delete operations | Enabled |
| Silently move Windows known folders to OneDrive | Enabled |
| Show notification to users after folders have been redirected: (Device) | Yes |
| Tenant ID: (Device) | [Tenant ID] |
| Silently sign in users to the OneDrive sync app with their Windows credentials | Enabled |
